Julie has been sewing since her teenage years. Her first work was a floral needlepoint, which she still has.
Since that time, she has honed her craft through experience, education, and a passion to bring new and exciting combinations of color and texture to life in the many treasures she creates for customers and friends.
The inspiration for much of Julies artwork comes from the beautiful costumes she has worn in her past career as an opera singer. A self-described costume junkie, Julie has visited a number of costume and textile museums around the world enabling her to integrate different styles from different cultures into her own unique work with the variety of vintage and antique fabrics, ribbons, beads, buttons and fabrics she has collected on her travels.
Another source of inspiration for Julies work comes from her many family vacations to both traditional and exotic locations. From Asia to the Caribbean to Eastern and Western Europe and the Mediterranean, the rich history and natural beauty of these places has found expression in her work from tropical landscapes to seasonal and thematic series to wearable art featuring the classic works of master artists.
Regardless of the size or scope of the project, Julies primary commitment is to excellent craftsmanship. Whether she is creating a piece for home or fashion, her ultimate objective is for her customers to love their new treasures and want to show them off.
